CONICET Researchers

Daniela Rodríguez

Biologist, PhD in Biological Sciences.

She is an Associate Researcher at CONICET and her line of research seeks to understand the dynamics between changes of land use by human activities and its effects on biodiversity (particularly fauna) y drylands. Her interests are focused on doing research to solve environmental problems, linking science with management.

She is also an Associate Professor within the “Conservation and Management Group” of the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences (UNCuyo), where together with colleagues from other disciplinary areas, she also develops research and student training.

Natalia Mariel Schroeder

Biologist, Master in Ecology and Natural Resources Management, PhD in Biological Sciences

She is a CONICET researcher and professor of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (UNCuyo). Her researches aims to understand the dynamics of interactions between fauna, the environment and human activities in different socio-ecological contexts and in the face of global change scenarios.

Natalia Schroeder and Daniela Rodriguez participate since 2020 in the feminist science group “CienciaFem” (@CienciaFem, @cienciafem_, CienciaFem) together with national and international colleagues addressing issues related to gender inequalities in the field of Ecology.

Pablo Moreno

Dr. Biological Sciences. Veterinarian.

Pablo is Researcher at the Argentinian Research Council (CONICET) based at the Instituto Argentino de Investigaciones de Zonas Áridas (IADIZA) and professor at the Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias y Ambientales of the Maza University.

Within his research lines, he studies the dynamics of health and disease in arid land mammals from the perspective of the eco-epidemiology of parasites and the dynamics of stress that affect their populations.

PhD Students

Fiama Evelin Peña

Biologist.

Since 2019, she is a PhD candidate in the Doctoral Program in Biological Sciences at the National University of Cuyo (PROBIOL-UNCuyo). Under the direction of Dra. Natalia M. Schroeder, Fiama is carrying out her studies within the framework of a Doctoral Scholarship, granted by ANPCyT. Her research aims to understand the ecophysiological strategies used by the guanaco (Lama guanicoe) to cope with the scarcity of drinking water and the role of water in the habitat selection of this ungulate in arid environments (such as northwestern Patagonia).

Rocio S. Fleitas Quintana

Diego Zeverini

Higher Technician in Nature Conservation.
Assistant Technician at CONICET

Diego Zeverini’s tasks consist in field assistance related to Animal and Plant Biology, and Ecology research projects; as well as a collaborating in sample processing, data collection and monitoring of environmental variables.

Mariano Tagua

Geographer with orientation in Territorial Planning.

Cartography Technician graduated from the National University of Cuyo. He is currently working as Research and Development Support Staff (CPA). Professor of the Environmental Information System at the Univ. of Congreso, Mendoza. He is in the final stage of his thesis in the Master’s Degree in Environmental and Territorial Management at the University of Congreso.
He advises research groups. He specializes in the use of GIS tools, IDEs, data repository, remote sensing and management of tools for field data collection through mobile devices. Experience in interdisciplinary and field work.

Maria Cielo Linares

Grabriel Guerra

Advanced student of Engineering in Renewable Natural Resources, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, UNCuyo.
Currently in his fifth year and working on his undergraduate thesis with the project “Response of solitary bees and plant-bees interaction networks to livestock exclusion in an arid ecosystem”.
His interests are focused on ecosystem conservation and restoration, environmental management of businesses and agroecological food production.
