*Witral:

The weaving and the loom. The force that speaks of life united with the same thread.
The notion of witral refers to weaving and weaving itself as a single action.
To say witral is to say unity… is to say totality. It means interrelation. It means …
weaving and loom. We are the weaving and the weaver. Through time and space.

By Rankale Llanquinao. Mapuche pewenche zomo. Malalwe kupal.

We are represented by “Witral”, from the Mapuche Kimun, because it invokes weaving and loom at the same time, as we think of this Network as a tool that contributes to the construction of knowledge of “weaving”, of the “weft” of life.

Area of work, interests and fields of application

Our Network integrates the disciplines of spatial and landscape ecology, population and community ecology, ecophysiology and ecoepidemiology of parasitism, management and conservation.

We are interested in generating knowledge oriented to the resolution of socio-environmental problems and contributing to the design of public policies.

Our lines of research involve wildlife responses to natural and anthropogenic environmental changes, in different socio-ecological contexts and scales, with direct application in: monitoring of species of ecological and/or productive interest, sustainable use of fauna, management plans for protected areas, restoration of ecological processes, changes in land use, among others.

How we work

We propose the collective construction of knowledge arising from spaces for dialogue and working groups within the Network, with other networks and with other actors in society.

This Network is dynamic, both in terms of interactions and themes, so that the dialogue processes are open to the inclusion of new and diverse actors and research questions as different issues arise.
