Statistical Methods for Climate Reconstructions from Tree Rings
Tree-rings have been globally used to reconstruct past climate. The present course introduce the students in theoretical and practical aspects of methods for tree ring climate reconstruction. Topics include: 1) the process to develop a tree-ring chronology and the standardization methods to capture climate signals in tree growth; 2) manipulation of climate data and tree-ring chronologies to reconstruct past climate; 3) understanding the links between the tree-ring chronologies and climate reconstruction with climate forcing thorough spatial field analysis.
We encourage students to work with their own tree-ring measures; otherwise we will provide with samples measurements from different regions of Argentina.
